Single-Leg Mid-Level Lateral Tuck Jump I — One-Side Demonstration
Exercise 7.234 in the Plyometric section of Advanced Concepts of Strength & Conditioning for Tennis. This short video shows one single-leg lateral jump over the cone.
Equipment And Difficulty
Two agility rings, one 4-inch cone. Book difficulty: 1.
Starting Position
Place the cone between the rings, approximately two shoulder widths apart. Stand on the leg closest to the cone inside one ring and look down toward the feet.
How To Perform The Exercise
- Jump laterally over the cone on one leg.
- Flex the knee toward hip level and keep the upper body over the cone.
- Land with control inside the ring on the other side. In the complete book progression, continue back and forth, then repeat with the opposite leg.
What The Video Shows
The athlete performs one lateral jump from the right side of the cone to the left ring while looking downward. The clip ends after that landing; it does not show the return jump or the opposite leg. The takeoff foot appears beside rather than clearly inside the starting ring, so treat this as a partial demonstration of the jump mechanics, not the complete book sequence.
Key Coaching Points
- Lift the knee to clear the cone rather than drawing the heel toward the buttocks.
- Stay balanced over the supporting leg and land inside the target ring.
- Use the two-leg mid-level lateral tuck jump as the prerequisite progression.
