Kneel & Jump Test

Chapter 4 · Fitness Assessment · 4.12

Assesses the speed of hip flexion by transitioning from kneeling into a squat landing.

Test Demonstration

Watch the movement, then follow the book’s full procedure and measurement instructions for a formal assessment.

Equipment

Open, safe floor space.

Test Procedure

Start kneeling with knees shoulder-width apart. Swing the arms to create momentum, lift off the ground, flex the hips rapidly and land on both feet in a shoulder-width squat.

Result and Scoring

The book records whether the athlete can perform the movement: able indicates adequate hip-flexor speed for this test; unable indicates a deficiency.

Video Demonstration Note

The clip shows one demonstration, not repeated trials or a diagnostic assessment.

Training Connections

If a Thomas Test identifies limited hip-flexor range of motion, follow the book’s related preparation guidance. Browse the exercise library for related demonstrations.
