Wrist Extensor Stretch for Tennis

Static Stretching · Book exercise 5.53

A straight arm forearm stretch focused on the wrist extensors.

Exercise Video

The video demonstrates both sides with abbreviated holds; follow the book’s full hold time.

How to Perform the Stretch

Extend one arm forward at shoulder height and bend the wrist so the fingers point inward. Use the other hand at the knuckles to guide the hand toward the chest. Keep the elbow straight, then switch sides.

Technique Cue

Hold near the knuckles rather than pulling the fingers, which changes the stretch emphasis.

Targeted Muscles and Timing

Target: Wrist and finger extensors. The tennis book recommends a hold of about 45 seconds. Perform both sides where applicable and avoid bouncing.

Book Technique and Related Exercises
