Prone Abductor Lateral Kicks

Exercise demonstration


Starting position

Set up in a prone push-up position with the hands under the shoulders and feet together.

How to perform the exercise

Move one leg laterally from the hip, return the foot beside the other, then repeat with the opposite leg.

Coaching points

Maintain a steady pelvis and trunk. Move the leg to the side without lifting the hips or turning the movement into a trunk twist.

Video note: The clip gives a clear rear view of the lateral kick on one side. Repeat the same controlled movement with the other leg.
