Inside-Out Fast Feet II (Modified Demonstration) For Tennis

Exercise 7.35 in the Stride Length & Frequency section of Chapter 7 of Advanced Concepts of Strength & Conditioning for Tennis. Watch the footwork before reviewing the coaching cues below.

Exercise Video

Starting Position

Stand sideways at the ladder holding a racquet in the ready position.

How To Perform The Exercise

Move both feet through the ladder squares. Near the end, cross the trailing foot behind, push off and step diagonally outward into an inside-out forehand position.

Book Setup And Video Note

Modified demonstration of the 7.35 footwork progression: the video adds agility rings and a simulated swing, which the book’s 7.35 ladder description does not require. It does not show a fed ball, so it must not be presented as the integrated ball-fed 7.63 exercise.

Equipment: Speed ladder and racquet; the video also uses agility rings
Book Difficulty Level: 2 — Intermediate
