Setup

Position the bar and plates securely with collars fitted and enough space for the lift and return. Establish a stance and grip that let you reach the bar while maintaining a controlled trunk position. Keep the feet supported and the bar close to the body.

How to Perform

Prepare the trunk, then extend the knees and hips to bring the bar to standing without jerking it from the floor. Finish with the hips and knees extended without leaning backward. Lower the bar under control and reset the floor position before the next repetition when a reset is prescribed.

Technique Cues

Keep the bar close. The hips and shoulders should rise in a coordinated manner. Reduce resistance or revise the setup if the bar drifts away or the intended trunk position cannot be maintained.
