Exercise 6.68 from Chapter 6 of Advanced Concepts of Strength & Conditioning for Tennis. Watch the complete movement and compare the footage note with the book’s technique.
Stand in an athletic stance with a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
Step into a forward lunge, turn the trunk and bring the dumbbells beside the hip, return to standing, then press overhead. Repeat with the opposite leg and return to the starting position.
The overhead press follows the return from the lunge, as the book specifies for the “Then” variation. Use a manageable load and keep the feet and full overhead position in view.
Equipment: Two dumbbells
Book Difficulty Level: 1 of 5
