Physio Ball Trunk Rotation (III)

Functional training exercise 6.112 from Advanced Concepts of Strength & Conditioning for Tennis. Watch the movement, then review the setup and technique cues.

Exercise demonstration

Starting position

Place the thighs on the physio ball and the hands on the floor just outside shoulder width. Bend the knees to about 90 degrees and establish a stable trunk.

How to perform the exercise

Rotate the trunk and knees toward one side while keeping the hands planted. Return through the center and repeat toward the other side.

Coaching points

Control the ball rather than swinging through the rotation. Keep the head aligned with the spine and avoid collapsing through the shoulders.

Video note: The athlete begins with the hips raised before lowering the thighs toward the ball for the rotation. Establish the book’s stable starting position before repeating the movement.

Equipment: Physio ball and exercise mat
Book difficulty level: 3 of 5
